- 5 apples
Apple chips are surprisingly tasty (we tried a sample in Whole Food the other day) and the kids go crazy for them. But, the store-bought variety is a little spendy for our regular budget. So, when I got our beautiful L’Equip Dehydrator (don’t forget you have until Sunday to enter to win your own!), apple chips are one of the first things we tried. (The first was delicious dried pineapple.) We only had four apples and two pears at the time, so we sliced them all up and dehydrated them all. It was ridiculously easy. And with the L’Equip, it took only about 8 hours to dry our chips. Awesome! If you have a high-powered dehydrator you could start some apple rings now and have them in time for dinner!

Instructions
Core and thinly slice apples horizontally. Lay out on your dehydrating trays and dehydrate for 6 to 10 hours, or until the apples are leathery and don’t shed liquid when sliced. Yum! They don’t need any extra spices or sugars to be delicious.
Ours were gone within hours.
