REVIEW: Green Giant Seasoned Steamers and tasty fried rice #seasonedsteamers

I have an incredible product to share today through a Glam Author opportunity, Green Giant Seasoned Steamers. And, even more incredibly Green Giant Seasoned Steamers Brussels Sprouts with Sea Salt & Black Pepper and Backyard Grilled Potatoes do not contain any animal ingredients. If you’re not completely vegan, also note that Honey Roasted Sweet Corn do not contain any dairy ingredients. There are also a few other flavors that contain milk or cheese products for the non-vegans.

As you know, I’m not a regular user of convenience foods, but I’m a huge fan of frozen veggies and, since these tasty treats are minimally seasoned, it’s a convenience food that doesn’t have junk in it. So, when I received this opportunity from Glam to review Green Giant’s Seasoned Steamers, I was super excited to try the two flavors that fit in with VeganMoFo: Brussels Sprouts with Sea Salt and Black Pepper and Backyard Griller Potatoes. Brussels Sprouts were actually top on my list even before I realized some of the other veggies weren’t vegan. I’ve only had one brussels sprout ever. At least, as far as I can recall. I tried it at a buffet after a discussion about whether I like brussels sprouts. I didn’t know the answer since I could never remember trying them. So, I did. And, well, they were plain and over-steamed and kinda mushy. I didn’t like them, to say the least.

So, I vowed to…eventually…try them again. I’ve heard they’re great oven-roasted. Today, I tried them again. And I liked them much better than the first try. I think I may still like them more roasted, but as a super quick healthy snack, these are great. And I love the seasoning.

We ate about half the bag as-is and chopped the other half and threw it into restaurant-style fried rice, along with pumpkin puree (as egg substitute), peas, carrots and sauteed onions. It was delicious!

As for the potatoes, well, I always love potatoes. So the ability to pop some seasoned, grilled potatoes in the microwave and have a delicious, starchy snack in minutes is pretty appealing.

Seasoned Steamers™, a new line of Green Giant® vegetables, gives you unexpectedly delicious taste in every vegetable bite.  These chef-inspired, seasoned vegetables come in six new varieties ranging from smoky roasted cues to ethnic inspired flavors.  By roasting, seasoning and freezing individual pieces, our vegetables lock in flavor so delicious, your family will ask for more.  In less than 8 minutes, your family can enjoy new Seasoned to Delicious™ Seasoned Steamers™.
