… but not together. 🙂
This week on Organic Authority, the most interesting article to research was the article on Food-borne Toxins and Pathogens. Check out the result: Your 6-Step Food Safety Guide to Decrease Toxins and Pathogens.
There are a shocking amount of toxins in all of our food and, with Congress recently shutting down a testing agency that finds and recalls pathogens in our produce, we may soon face more pathogens. So, what to do? Find ways to reduce your risk without cutting out fresh produce.
And on a much lighter note, it’s persimmon season! I’ve gathered 15 Sweet, Savory and Succulent Seasonal Persimmon Recipes. (Including my own vegan Pumpkin-Persimmon Muffins! Yum!) There are an amazing amount of sweet and savory persimmon dishes. And if you’re lucky enough to find these babies in your yard, your CSA box or at your farmers market, snap them up and make some of these delicious treats!
And last, but not least, 8 Days of Sustainable Hanukkah Gifts. While we’re not Jewish, our daughter (Bug, the almost 4-year-old) attends a Jewish preschool. So I loved researching this article, in part because it’s nice to write something not entirely about food every now and then and also because it made me familiar with some of the terms Bug brings home from school. We plan to weave some homage Hanukkah into our holiday celebrations this year. There are some really neat traditions!
