I developed this homemade skin cream based on two of our favorite soothing skin cream recipes. The pure coconut oil was too strong for Bug’s skin, so we cut it with shea butter. It’s perfect for Bug (and her cousins) so I hope you or your kids love it, too!
We just rub the cream on our chapped winter skin to sooth the rough patches. It’s awesome. The lavender and melrose are both helpful for skin. Lavender is soothing and nourishing, while Melrose blend can support the skin’s appearance.
Essential oils have absolutely changed our lives. If you’re making this, please check out the Young Living Essential Oils starter kit. Lavender EO is included!
Soothing Skin Cream

1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup shea butter
25 drops Melrose essential oil (Buy it HERE)
25 drops Lavender essential oil (Buy it HERE….this oil is actually IN the starter kit. Win!)
Method
In a stand mixer, combine coconut oil and shea butter. Whip on high until fully combined and slightly fluffy. Add essential oils.

Don’t have a stand mixer? No problem! Add coconut oil and shea butter to a glass jar. Bring a pan of water to a boil and set jar in it. Stir frequently to melt oils. Let it cool a bit and stir in essential oils. Let cool before use.
