Our first pseudo-paleo dish was a huge hit. We made both a curry chicken version and a chickpea curry version. Both were amazing according to all reports. I loved the curry chickpea dish and it was super simple to make. We served ours over rice, but if you’re a real Paleo person you can serve […]
I was lucky enough to get an amazing sample of Healthy Fruit & Nut Bars Snacks recently. And let me tell you, I immediately added them to our Amazon Subscribe & Save list, Fruit & Nut 1.4-Ounce Gluten Free Bars (Pack of 12) (affiliate link), based solely on the kids’ reactions to these bars. After I managed to […]
As you may know, I’m now a gluten-free vegetarian. So, with our already crazy mix of food issues (meat-eaters, vegetarians and food allergies), I need all the help I can get to put meals on the table. Thanks to the graciousness of gluten-free companies, the transition to gluten-free has been much more pleasant than I […]
So, we used to be 1 Vegetarian Mom + 1 Meat-eating Dad & 2 Undecided Kids. And we thought THAT was exciting. Now, we’re 1 Gluten-Free Vegetarian Mom (with thyroid issues), 1 Meat-Eating Dad, 1 Decided Kid—she went for Pescatarianism with a Hot Dogs Exception (I’m sadly not joking)—and 1 Intolerant Kid—she’s a Meat-Lover with […]
It’s been a better month thus far on the new Gluten-Free Vegetarian era at our house. Yes, dinnertime is still sometimes stressful. After all, this is our family line-up now: Mom: Gluten-free vegetarian with hypothyroidism Dad (Mr. Meaty): “Normal” omnivore who isn’t a big fan of vegetarian proteins. Kid 1 (Bug, 4): Basically a pescatarian with […]
Who loves fall? I do! I do! I love fall flavors. Fall is definitely my favorite season and fall flavors are probably my favorite food season. Pumpkin, cauliflower and sweet potatoes! Yum! If you love fall flavors like I do, you may enjoy a few of these fall recipes. You can also enjoy seasonal tomatoes, […]
I’ve tried pretty much unsuccessfully four times now to eat fish or seafood. Mostly salmon and once crab when I was out to dinner with friends and the salmon option was an unappetizing giant grilled filet. So, I’m thinking pescatarianism may not be in the cards for me, in spite of my health issues. I might […]
Chinese Sweet & Sour Cucumbers are a family favorite with sliced fresh cucumber and just the right combination of tart & sweet.
Don’t worry, we didn’t kick the girls, Bug (4) and Goose (3) out of the house. We still have four members to our family. But when I got Kathy Hester’s yummy new cookbook in the mail, Vegan Slow Cooking for Two, I made a realization that I probably should’ve made a long time ago. Cooking for two is kind of awesome when you’re cooking for a blended-eater family. I’m mostly vegetarian (experimenting with pescatarianism due to health issues), my husband Mr. Meaty is an omnivore and our girls are undecided.
Should I Become a Pescatarian? Should I become a pesky pescatarian? I don’t actually believe pescatarians are pesky, I just like the alliteration. I’ve been struggling with some health issues lately. My primary issue is hypothyroidism, but I also suffered a bizarre bout of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. It’s pretty strange, apparently calcium crystals slosh […]
